Holy Mother Virgin’s Nativity Church

Holy Mother Virgin’s Nativity Church

The architectural style of the Holy Mother Virgin’s Nativity Church in Batumi is unusual. Today it is a Georgian orthodox church, but it was originally built as a Catholic church in 1898-1902. Sponsors were members of the Georgian family of businessmen Zubalashvili. During the Soviet period the church faced the same fate as most churches of that time. The building was not used in its original function, but was turned into a high voltage laboratory.
