Walking in the 26 May Park, along Melikishvili street, you will notice a white colonnade in the upper corner. Take a closer look at the figure in the center of the colonnade. This is a statue in memory of Fadiko Gogitidze, the first Georgian female pilot, born in Kobuleti in Adjara. After finishing Tbilisi School of Aviation in 1936, she started working at Batumi Aviation School. She died during a test flight in 1940, at the age of only 24 years.
