Batumi was an important city in the history of the development of the Nobel brother’s oil industry. The oil from Baku by the Caspian sea was transported over the Caucasus to the Black Sea port of Batumi. Ludvig and Robert Nobel made a very important contribution to the development of the city with the building of the Baku-Tbilisi-Batumi pipeline and the railway Baku-Batumi.
The office building built for the Branobel company in the late 19th century now houses the Technological museum, devoted to the oil industry and the work of the Nobel brothers, as well as the development of local cultivation of tea and other branches.
The address is Tamaris dasakhleba (close to the Batumi Central Railway station).
